Bunion Surgery Now Offers More Pros than Cons (Today)

In an interview with Today, Dr David Su shared about bunion problem and its surgery treatment.

 

What is bunion?

Bunion is a bony bump that develops on the joint at the base of the big toe. Dr Su estimates that around 30% of patients that seek medical help have bunions serious enough to impair their quality of life. The condition is usually hereditary and may sometimes lead to other problems like arthritis if not treated.

When should I have bunion surgery?

Surgery should be considered when much pain and discomfort are experienced from the bunion. Dr Su says that painful bunion surgery with long recovery time is history. Current surgical techniques make recovery much faster and with lesser pain.
