Pain at the Achilles Tendon

Dr David Su answers a Straits Times reader’s query on the Achilles tendon pain he is having, which may be a tendonitis problem or Haglund syndrome.

The reader’s Achilles tendon pains whenever he start walking after he just got up from the bed, car or chair. The pain usually goes away after a short walk. According to Dr David Su, this type of pain is very common and may be symptomatic of Haglund syndrome or Achilles tendonitis. Dr David Su recommends him to see a doctor who can go through in more detail and pinpoint his problem. Calf stretches and modification of his activities are also recommended.
